Description DWM Berlin produced Argentine Mauser Modelo 1909 7.65 Argentine. Additional information Weight 10 lbs Dimensions 36 × 17 × 7 in History The Argentine Mauser Model 1909 is a Gewehr 98-based bolt action rifle that was designed for the Argentine Army. This rifle was originally produced in Germany and later in Argentina. The rifle is very similar to the G98 but features many changes that the Argentina army requested. The “roller coaster” Lange Visier sight was replaced with a standard leaf sight. Argentina also wanted the rifle to use older Mauser 1891 bayonets. Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken produced 200,000 rifles and Argentina’s Fabcrica Militar de Armas Portaliles in Rosario and Santa Fe produced 85,000. The rifle was replaced by FN Herstals FAL. Rifles that were made without crests were sold to Paraguay for the Chaco War. Argentina, Paruaguay and Dominican Republic used these rifles. Peru also received thousands of this pattern between 1910 and 1914 chambered in 7.65 Mauser. These rifles were more similar to the original G98 and had the original Lange Visier Sight but with a larger ring and a shorter breech to accept 1891 stripper clips. Condition The Mauser pictured is the rifle for sale. This Mauser is in very good-excellent condition. All outside serial numbers appear to be matching. The stock is in great shape with much of the original finish intact. We noted some light wear from use and transporation. The bolt and receiver are polished and the blued parts look excellent retaining much of their original blued finish. 4/5 Barrel (bore – very good) Markings Early Argentine Crest Mauser Model Argentino 1909 Deutsche Waffen-Und Munitionsfabriken Berlin D Series Serial Number Argentine Cartouche
